Alternate Snow Day Assignment-Days 1-5

Fractured Fairy Tale Unit

Day 1-Choose a fairy tale, read it and make connections with it by summarizing in 3 paragraphs.  I have included a graphic organizer for this.  You may pick your own fairy tale, or choose one that I have provided a copy of on my teacher website and have provided for you.  After completing the graphic organizer, write your summary.  I am looking for correct punctuation, grammar, and spelling.  I am also looking at how well you have answered the questions I included on the graphic organizer.

Day 2-Reread the fairy tale you have selected.  Decide on how you will create your own fractured fairy tale.  You will do this by mixing the original fairy tale up with your own ideas.  I have included a graphic organizer for you to use to get your ideas together.

Day 3-Write your fractured fairy tale on paper.  You have the option to type it, you may also email this to me if you are able to.  I am looking for correct punctuation, grammar, and spelling.  I am also looking at how thoroughly you have created your own plot, characters, setting, title, and details.

Day 4-Look back at your fractured fairy tale, make any revisions.  Ask an adult or older sibling to look at it and give you their critique if you want.  After revising, you may begin your project.  You can take your fractured fairy tale and create either a: movie, powerpoint, or prezi.  You can make a song or a rap.  If you want to, you can create a book to turn in, be sure to use illustrations and make this as creative as possible.  If you have other creative ideas I’m up for it!  Just email me for permission first.

Day 5-Continue to work on your project.  These will be shared with your class when we come back.  They will also be displayed in the classroom!  Have fun with this!

***My teacher website will also contain the rubrics I will use to grade the summary and project, this way you will know how I will be grading this***
